Thailand’s first ever zoo, Dusit was founded more than half a century ago and has since cared for almost 2,000 animals. This vast 189,000sqm animal park offers far more than just animal enclosures. Kids can learn all about the animals at the education center, discover the history of the park and its many residents at the zoo museum, take a trip onboard the sightseeing train and go ape in the activity playground. The zoo is also home to a large animal hospital. The park itself is vast and it’s best to grab a map on the way in to figure out what you really want to see. There is a mini tram to whisk you around, and if you need a break from the heat you’ll find plenty of water fountains, shaded gardens, cafes and ice cream parlours – although you’re welcome to bring your own food and drink into the park too.
