The first thing that impresses the tourists, coming to Mongolia, is incredibly varied landscape. At one turn there are the sparkling lakes of Khovsgol, at the other – snowcapped mountains of Bayan-Ölgi. Being rather closed for the international tourists for many years, modern Mongolia offers the comers perfect places for horse trekking, long-distance cycling or hiking and ideal conditions for sightseeing. It should be said that the excursions are concentrated at the country's monasteries, which had been destroyed during the Soviet period, and now they are rebuilt. So, being little visited destination, Mongolia has much to offer in terms of scenery, wildlife, and historic and cultural sites.
