San Marino is Europe’s third-smallest state after the Vatican and Monaco. The country is so small, that its annual Grand Prix has to be held at Imola in neighboring Italy. In fact such tiny size of San Marino doesn’t mean that there is nothing to see and do. Many tourists compare the Republic of San Marino with Tibet, because the country is so mysterious and exclusive. Coming to San Marino in April or October, you will witness the twice-yearly state ceremonies, when half of the population dresses up in 19th century costumes, march, blow their brasses, and throw the fire crossbows into the thin mountain-top air.
